The original canvas was over 50 years-old, fragile, and badly damaged. The only existing photograph of the canvas (a 5x7 chrome, on the left) was just as old, and completely faded to magenta. The task was simple: using the faded 5x7 chrome, create a high-res digital file with the colors restored. When presented with the task, all I said was "okay," but, of course, I didn't have a clue as to how this would be accomplished. Ultimately, the solution was nearly as elegant as it was bizarre; sometimes I surprise myself. By the way: I didn't digitally paint in the individual colors.
