Direct sun light was falling across the black jacket from behind the model's left side. This allowed the light to cast a shadow along the button line and the lapels adding more definition to the jacket.

Obviously, the direct sun light also fell on the white pants and the model's face causing a big difference between the brightest highlight and the shadow detail. To bring the two into the proper balance, a 4' x 6' white panel was positioned close to the model, just off-camera to the right.
